December Giveaways, Contests, and Grants for Educators/Librarians

Remember, you still have a month to apply for Charlesbridge’s TROUT ARE MADE OF TREES contest. The prize includes books and a school visit from April Pulley Sayre, i.e. me, wherever you are in the continental U.S. Deadline December 31, 2008.

Applications for ALSC’s Professional Awards are due December 1, 2008.  Help your library get the funding it needs–apply today!

 

Awards include:

  • Bookapalooza!  Three libraries will receive Bookapalooza Collections (worth $10,000 each) of new published children’s materials
  • The BWI Summer Reading Program Grant, which provides $3,000 to one library for its summer reading program
  • The Penguin Young Readers Group Award, which provides four librarians with $600 to attend their first ALA Annual Conference
  • The Maureen Hayes Author/Illustrator Award, which provides up to $4,000 for one library to host an author/illustrator visit
  • The Bechtel Fellowship, which provides a $4,000 stipend for a children’s librarian to study at the Baldwin Library at the University of Florida, Gainesville
  • Nominate an individual who has made a significant contribution to library service to children and ALSC for the ALSC Distinguished Service Award
