Online Courses and Critiquers

I critique manuscripts primarily  in association with conference appearances and workshops. (If you would like to be on an email list to be informed of the next workshop I am teaching, please email me.)

There are other terrific writers and editors who offer online courses and critiques. See below for a few suggested authors. They are listed in no particular order. You must find your best fit.


Author Anastasia Suen offers lots of online workshops to assist aspiring children’s book authors. She’s been doing this for years and she has a whole slate of workshops you can take.

Author Laura Purdie Salas offers online classes/workshops ranging from nonfiction for the education market to writing poetry.



Author Esther Hershenhorn teaches at University of Chicago’s Writer’s Studio and other sites. She also coaches writers, offering both critiques and career advice.

Author Carolyn Marsden offers critiquing of novels and chapter books. She has an MFA in Creative Writing for children and young adults from Vermont College. She has ten novels/chapter books with Candlewick. She also does career coaching.

Author Maryann Rodman offers critiquing for a fee.  She has an MFA in Creative Writing for children and young adults from Vermont College. She writes both novels and picture books.

Author Christine Kohler critiques picture books, chapter books, novels.

Author Harold Underdown offers a comprehensive novel and picture book critiquing service.

Author Bonny Becker offers critiquing services.
